This "The Fundamentals Of Construction Contracts: Understanding The Issues" seminar will focus on the knowledge and practical insight needed to understand the legal and administrative issues associated with construction contracts.

This course will provide participants with the knowledge and practical insight needed to understand the legal and administrative issues associated with construction contracts. Experts in the field will review basic contract principles and explore specific issues that should be addressed in construction contracts. Discussions will also focus on a wide variety of model contract forms and clauses, which reflect the most relevant and current issues in the construction industry. The day will conclude with a session for questions and answers.

Richard L. Peel is the managing partner of the law firm of Peel Brimley LLP. He attended Arizona State University and received a B.S. degree in marketing with emphasis in international business. He graduated from Brigham Young University School of Law and is licensed to practice law in the states of Nevada, Arizona and Utah. With more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry, Mr. Peel?s law practice is concentrated primarily in the area of complex construction claims litigation, where he represents owners, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and developers. He has represented clients on private, public works and federal projects with respect to multimillion-dollar claims. Mr. Peel is a panel arbitrator and mediator on the American Arbitration Association?s Construction Industry Large Complex Arbitration Panel and is also an advisory member of the American Arbitration Association?s Construction Industry Advisory Panel. Mr. Peel recently drafted Nevada?s new prompt pay statute for ?public works? - NRS 338.400 to 338.645 and co-authored Nevada?s new ?right to stop work bill? - NRS 624.606 to 630.

Michael W. Brimley is a founding partner of the Henderson law firm of Peel Brimley LLP, where he represents owners, developers, contractors, material suppliers and engineers. Mr. Brimley received his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Weber State College and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Brigham Young University. He has written and lectured in the past concerning a wide range of construction-related matters. Mr. Brimley is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, District of Nevada. He is a member of the State Bar of Nevada, the State Bar of California, and the Clark County (member, Construction Law Section) and American (member, Construction and Dispute Resolution committees) Bar Associations.

Deidre J. Call is of counsel with the Henderson law firm of Peel Brimley LLP. She has extensive experience representing owners, developers, lenders, borrowers, buyers, sellers, contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers and others in transactions involving the purchase, sale, development, financing, leasing and construction of real property, and the purchase and sale of ongoing businesses. In addition, as a former Deputy City Attorney, Civil Division, of the City of North Las Vegas, Ms. Call represented the City Council, the Planning Commission and all city departments in transactional matters, including real property development, public works construction, code compliance and land use. She received her J.D. degree from Duke University School of Law and her B.A. degree, cum laude, with University Honors and Thesis, from Brigham Young University. Ms. Call is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Phoenix, teaching courses in law, ethics, dispute resolution and history. She is also a member of the State Bar of Nevada, the Clark County Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

Gregory S. Gilbert is a partner in the Henderson law firm of Peel Brimley LLP, where his practice consists of construction law, complex commercial litigation, insurance coverage and real estate litigation. Mr. Gilbert received his B.A. degree from the University of California-Santa Barbara and his J.D. degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. He has written and lectured in the past concerning a wide range of construction-related matters. Mr. Gilbert is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, District of Nevada. He is a member of the State Bar of Nevada, the State Bar of California, the Clark County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Mr. Gilbert also actively participates in a variety of community services programs throughout southern Nevada.

Dale B. Rycraft Jr. is a partner in the law firm of Peel Brimley LLP. He has more than 12 years of insurance-related experience, much of which involved insurance coverage related to construction projects. Prior to joining the Peel Brimley law firm, Mr. Rycraft worked as an in-house attorney for TIG Excess and Surplus Lines, Inc., as a construction defect claims adjuster for Scottsdale Insurance Company and later for Zurich N.A. He also worked as an attorney in Zurich?s Las Vegas staff legal office, where his practice was concentrated primarily in the defense of subcontractors in construction defect lawsuits. Mr. Rycraft?s current law practice is concentrated in the areas of insurance coverage, construction claims and contract litigation, where he represents owners, developers, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers. He has advised clients with respect to hundreds of insurance policies, including owner controlled insurance programs (OCIP), builder?s risk policies, commercial general liability insurance policies and excess insurance policies. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Rycraft was licensed as a property and casualty insurance agent in California, Arizona and Utah. He received his B.A. degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing from California State University, Fullerton; his M.B.A. degree with an emphasis in finance from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona; and his J.D. degree from Gonzaga University. Mr. Rycraft is licensed to practice law in Arizona and Nevada, and holds the position of panel arbitrator for NASD Dispute Resolution.
